Will Ruby on Rails work on a (dpv) Nitro?
The (dpv) Nitro includes Ruby 1.8.5. In order to use Ruby on Rails, you will need to set up the environment first. We recommend using mongrel_cluster as detailed in our comprehensive KnowledgeBase article. For authoritative documentation please read the RubyGems installation guide as well as these instructions for installing Rails. Plesk also comes with Mod FCGID, which can be used to set up a more basic environment for Ruby On Rails.
Can I install any 3rd party applications or hosting software I want? Although (mt) Media Temple cannot assist in the installation of 3rd party applications you are free to install and use whatever software you want without restrictions.
How do I enable root access to my (dpv) Nitro? For security purposes we don't provision (dpv) Nitro with root access enabled by default. Root access can easily be enabled via the admin section of the AccountCenter.
What is PowerPanel technology? The software PowerPanel included with each (dpv) Nitro allows you to stop, start and reboot your server directly through your web browser. Using the optional snapshot style backup add-on before performing delicate system administration tasks allows you to instantly revert back to your snapshot if your changes don't work out. The PowerPanel also allows you to automatically re-provision your (dpv) Nitro server to the exact state it originally came in at anytime.
What forms of payment does (mt) Media Temple accept? You may purchase any of our hosting solutions through the following payment methods; Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, and wire transfer. If you are a US customer, you also have the option of paying by money order or check. Please let us know if you intend to pay via PayPal, money order/check, or wire transfer so we may email you special instructions for using those two payment methods. Any payment method requiring special instructions will need to be prepaid for a year.
Will there be a discount if I prepay for a full year?
